My life and my travels have taught me how we are all connected, how impactful presence can be, how we always are where we need to be, and most of all, that we should always, always follow our intuition.
Life takes us where we need to be, and most of the time we don’t need to do much more than live it.
But, there is a certain magic and power in living consciously, being a conscious creator of the river our life is.
The more conscious we are in our daily lives, the more we follow our inner wisdom, the better we feel and the easier it is to flow through the ups and downs of life. When we follow our intuition, live consciously according to our inner wisdom, we have more power. We become powerful creators of our own lives.
Following our instincts and our intuition is not always easy. At times it is blind faith, no logical reasoning to follow, nothing tangible in return, no instant gratification.
No other than that we live in tune with ourselves – which is the biggest gratification – but, in this rapid world where we are constantly guided to rely on outside opinions and guidance, it is easy to lose our own voice.
It becomes difficult to distinguish what feels right and good for us.
And what makes it even more difficult is that when we follow our intuition there is often no absolute certainty, nothing that tells whether this decision truly was right or wrong.
In a way intuition is the biggest, brightest and strongest form of self-love: it is trusting ourselves with our own life.
While I have always and without a doubt followed my intuition, I know it does not come so easily to everyone. I also know how scary it can be to make big, life-altering decisions based on a feeling, a hunch, a call only you can hear.
Following your intuition in your daily life
Intuition manifests in certainty, excitement, in passion and interest. In a feeling or a need. An inner knowing. A call.
A call that we’re asked to follow openly, softly, gently. Curiously stepping into the flow and allowing what springs up.
To better hear this call, hear your own inner wisdom:
TRUST YOUR BODY
Your body is your biggest help when you follow your intuition, and the more present you are, the easier it is for you to hear its messages.
A DAILY PRACTICE
Following your intuition and listening to yourself and your inner wisdom can be practised at anytime anywhere. The more we follow our intuition in our daily lives, the easier it comes to follow and respect it with bigger decisions as well.
ALLOW THE UNKNOWING
While following your intuition, try not to expect anything. We are hard-wired to get results, and when we do not get them, we easily feel like we are doing something wrong or that what we are doing is not working.
But, when following your intuition the results are not always so tangible or visible. They are not instant and might take years to decipher.
THERE IS MAGIC IN CONSISTENCY
When you follow your intuition and your inner wisdom, you live a life where you respect yourself, your whole and your boundaries. The result is a life that feels good, feels like yourself. A life where your inner world becomes alive and visible in every aspect of your existence.
This is no easy task and there is no quick practice or exercise that will change your life for the better; listening to your heart and following your intuition is a way of life, a way of living in tune with yourself day in and day out.
Yes - sometimes there is an outcome, something tangible that you can hold on to, that reminds you that you are on the right path, doing the right thing, but most of the time nothing visible happens, the effect is obscured, and we might not realise the ramifications of our choices until years or even decades later – if ever.
START SMALL
Go on an intuitive walk, look for what feels good in your body, what draws you in, that certain tingle that tells you where to go or not to go.
Practice in the supermarket: Slow down, feel your feet on the ground, take a deep breath, close your eyes and listen to what food calls to you, which apple feels right today, at this moment.
Take a moment before you reply yes or no to an invite. Centre yourself in your body, what does it tell you and how does it feel?
Remember what feels good in your body and follow that feeling. Trust yourself and that you know what is good for you.
Sometimes it is worthwhile to test doing the opposite: what happens, how do you feel when you choose a different apple, do not take the route that felt right or say yes when you felt like saying no?
Follow the joy, stay curious, stay open and enjoy the journey your life is
Life is a journey and it does not need to be so serious. You are allowed to test and play, try and fall, fail and succeed. It is all part of the path.
Step forward lightly, allow yourself to test and explore, and always, always follow what sparks a joy in you.
If there is a place that excites you, that you are curious about, have a need to visit – go. Go. Make it happen – the universe will help you on your way.
It doesn’t need to make sense – it rarely does to the logical mind – you do not need to know why, just allow yourself to follow your inner wisdom. The right things will come along.
And most of all, allow the journey, be present in every experience and soak in all you encounter: conscious travel, conscious life, requires presence. For us to be aware of ourselves and the world we live in.
Trust. Always trust the call – you never know what miracles it will bring along, what all it sets in motion and how much deeper, stronger you will live your soul’s plan true.
Let your inner compass guide you to whatever it is that feels important right now; whether it is the park next door or a city on the other side of the world, a certain book, a person or a movie.
The smallest things, seemingly random choices, can have the biggest impacts on our lives. One book can spark an interest that takes you to the other side of the world. One conversation teach you about worlds you did not know you needed to know about.
Follow your gut, stay present and open, allow yourself to experience life and the world in all its multitudes.
Slowly, but surely, you will notice how the universe communicates with you in every single moment. How it dances with you, how life helps you on your way, how every choice, every step, every decision is purposeful and significant.
Just as you are - purposeful and significant - just as you are.
Where is your intuition taking you today?
